Abstract

The world economy and society are undergoing a rapid process of globalisation. The world is becoming more and more like one big market. The uncontrolled phenomena that this generates are leading to a certain consensus that there needs to be some body that can subject this erratic economy to some regulation. Recently, the bishops of the European Union have promoted a working group to analyse this issue in depth. The report that this group has produced is presented in these pages with a twofold purpose: to publicise the examination and the proposals it makes; to raise awareness of these new needs of our world.
