The difficulties in incorporating self–employed immigrants into the Spanish labor market
Main Article Content
Abstract
When the immigrant population in Spain embarks on free–lance activity, they typically experience their own specific problems, as well as those encountered by other groups of entrepreneurs. This text, based on interviews with experts in the field, aims to pinpoint these problems. Regulations governing the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain as dictated by Organic Law 4/2000 consider incorporation into the labor market as the main prerequisite for the authorization of residence permits. For this reason we consider it of the utmost importance to know the difficulties experienced by the immigrant population on their path to self–employment.
