Abstract

The Spanish economic situation in the last few years has deteriorated; this circumstance, along with the measures that have been adopted in the last months, has greatly undermined our society’s well–being, so widening the gap between the highest rungs of the social system and the poorest ones that we are now the Eurozone with the highest degree of social inequality.
The purpose of this editorial is not to diagnose the situation, but rather to contribute information about the key aspects of the “storm” and to offer some criteria to evaluate it, keeping in mind the policies and measures adopted by the EU and the UME and their consequences, and concentrating particularly on our own country. Through this information we offer a reflection on the key issues that can shed a light on how the Spanish scenario might develop and about some possible action plans for future orientation.
