Abstract
El 7 de diciembre de 2009, el entonces primer ministro belga, Herman Van Rompuy, en el marco de las “Grandes Conferencias Católicas” de Bruselas pronunció la disertación “Del personalismo a la acción política”. El 17 de noviembre de ese año los veintisiete jefes de Estado y de gobierno de la Unión Europea habían elegido a Van Rompuy como primer presidente del Consejo europeo. Nacido en 1947 en Flandes y doctorado en ciencias económicas en la Universidad Católica de Lovaina, Van Rompuy es un pensador político personalista en la línea de M. Scheler, J. Maritain, E. Mounier o P. Ricoeur. En su conferencia trató sobre la importancia del personalismo para fundar y orientar la acción política.
