Nature and the Land in the horizon of subjective modernity
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study shows the principal lines that have characterised the relationship between human beings and nature since the onset of Modernity and also deals with the cultural roots of current ecological imbalances. To do so, it analyses the horizontal cultural change or cognitive framework that has transpired in Europe since the Middle Ages. Under the auspices of three classical authors, R. Descartes, J. Locke y J. S. Mill, the historical path that the West has taken in these last centuries is described, along with the process of disassociation, rational exploitation and transformation of the land and everything pertaining to nature. It then goes on to show the limitations of the modern stand on this issue and the need to overcome them.
