Abstract

In the month of July of 2009 the first social encyclical of Pope Benedicto XVI was published: Caritas in Veritate. For this reason, the habitual leader article of the Revista Fomento Social has been replaced in this number by a group of reflections of interdisciplinary character realised by some of the members of its editorial board. Thus, they have approached the subjects in which habitually they work, but “re-interpreting them” in the light of the reading of the papal text. We enumerate next these individual contributions, whose titles summarize clearly the thematic which they talk about: “Benedicto XVI’s first social encyclical: keys for understanding” (Ildefonso Camacho Laraña); “Economic system, business models and business culture” (Juan Ignacio Font Galán); “A more human and all-inclusive conception of economic relations: the economic democracy” (Julio Jiménez Escobar y Alfonso Carlos Morales Gutiérrez); “Business and society: the approach of Corporate Social Responsibility” (Rafael Araque Padilla); “Finance and the economic and financial crisis” (Mª del Carmen López Martín y Adolfo Rodero Franganillo); “Ecology and environmental issues. Pragmatic orientations from a different cultural framework” (Juan Antonio Senent de Frutos); “Cooperation for Development” (José Juan Romero Rodríguez) y “Fraternity, a way for the human family” (José Mª Margenat Peralta).
