The USA evaluation agencies of Corporate Social Responsibility
Main Article Content
Abstract
The USA was the precursor of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) and of agencies for the evaluation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Both ISR and evaluation agencies offer significant differences with those in Europe. In the USA, the SRI starts from portfolio selection, community investments and shareholder advocacy. There are five agencies for CSR evaluation: Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, which offers declarative and requested evaluations; KLD, which offers only declarative evaluation; the rest, Domini Social Investment, Calvert y Trillium, are fund management companies that analyse the CSR of enterprises in order to generate their own stock portfolio and offer it to their clients. They do not sell this information. Analysis criteria of American agencies differ from those used by European agencies. We will look in detail at KLD, Calvert and Innovest analysis methods.
