John Paul II: his social thinking. Contributions of his three social encyclical letters
Main Article Content
Abstract
From the very beginning, given its foundational inspiration, the Revista de Fomento Social has always paid special attention to the so–called ‘Social doctrine of the Church’ (SDC). Written at John Paul II’s death, this article first analyses Pope Wojtila’s three main social encyclical letters. For each of them a description is given of their context and aims, basic content and most important contributions. Then reflections are given on the whole, taking into account the concerns of Pope Paul II’s pontificate and its desire to clarify the SDC, the ethical stance of this SDC and the role that globalisation and solidarity play in them.
