The Union and monetary policy in the “New Europe”
Main Article Content
Abstract
The latest enlargement of the European Union and the signing of the so–called European Constitution are both questions that will determine the near future of the European Union. In this article we discuss to what extent they will affect two important issues in the Union: the Monetary Union and common monetary policy, analysing their precedents and the situation today, as well as their treatment under the European Constitution. We also make certain references to the experience of the last few years and the reality of the new members of the EU, to conclude with a reflection on how they could evolve in the future.
