The phenomenon of globalisation: An introductory reflection.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Once again the phenomenon of globalisation comes to our magazine (see no.218, April–June 2000, quoted by the author). On this occasion, the author contributes a conceptual clarification, indicating the different meanings of the concept; then, he describes briefly what could be termed “the globalising paradigm” and its omnipresence in present intellectual and political speeches. Finally, an assessment –necessarily ambivalent– of globalisation, a controversial phenomenon wherever it arises, that rouses both fears and hopes, is pointed out. He finally insists that Catholic social teaching adds the concept of solidarity to the phenomenon of globalisation.
