Main Article Content
Abstract
In 1999–2000, the European Values Study Foundation of Tilburg University (the Netherlands), following two previous analogous investigations / studies, conducted an extensive survey on values of Europeans all over the continent. The author describes the main lines arising from the research. A strong sense of freedom and equality, the prominence of individualism, the progress of secularisation, the wish for better qualified employment, more tolerance, some ambiguity on attitudes towards continuous integration into the European Union are some of the main features, with frequent contrasts among different countries, demonstrated in the survey.
