VI Programme on Environment in the context of the European Union environmental policy: synthesis

Abstract
In 2001 the European Commission has adopted a proposal regarding the new programme of action in questions of the environment, with a duration of 10 years. This is a tremendously important strategic document, as it specifies areas for priority action in this field, as well as some of the policies and measures whose application is planned; these should provide innovative solutions which can lead to a suitable response to the environmental challenges which face us.
