Some critical aspects of health at the workplace and the legislative framework for prevention

Abstract
Accidents at the workplace and prevention policies are still unresolved areas in the Spanish system of labour relations. In spite of the effort dedicated to the adaptation of regulations as a consequence of the 31/1995 Law for the Prevention of Risks in the Workplace, and the incorporation of several Community guidelines, the accident rate, instead of dropping, has actually spiralled upwards. This article tackles part of this troublesome question, aiming at a more appropriate standardisation of the legal framework for preventive measures.
