Spanish Monetary Markets. Evolution and Prospects

Abstract
Monetary markets are one of the most important components of the economic and financial activity of any country because of the role they play. In this article, a brief run through of these roles is followed by an analysis of the most important aspects of the development of these markets in Spain since its commencement (in the mid–seventies) up until the present, following the incorporation of Spain unto the monetary Union. Lastly, is a commentary on what the guidelines are that could establish its behaviour in the near future.
