Abstract
La caída de los regímenes socialistas, entre otras muchas consecuencias, representó para Cuba el final de un modelo económico basado hasta entonces en unas relaciones peculiares con la Unión Soviética y los países del Este. La crisis subsiguiente, agravada por la permanencia del bloqueo norteamericano, está siendo afrontada por la economía cubana con la aparente pretensión de sobrevivir manteniendo sus propios esquemas, acercándose sin embargo a un modelo algo más próximo al de economía mixta. El presente artículo, escrito desde dentro del sistema, explica el proceso. El autor ha sido hasta hace unos meses decano de la Facultad de Economía de La Habana, con la que ETEA mantiene un intenso programa de colaboración universitaria.
