Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract: Mexico proposed in december 2018 a Comprehensive Development Plan for Central America, with the aim of generating local development processes and addressing in situ the causes of migration to the United States of America (USA). A central program of the Mexican collaboration is Sembrando Vida, which seeks to revitalize local rural economies, increasing income and agricultural production for food self-sufficiency. This document analyzes the scope of the program based on its impact on the causes of migration, the institutional and financial requirements to implement it, and the necessary participation of economic and political actors and capacities. Initially, the current socioeconomic context of migration is presented. The second section analyzes the program, and the institutional framework. Section three discusses some partial results.
