The celebrations of the beatification of St. Ignatius in the Jesuit Province of Paraguay

Abstract
The significant presence of the Society of Jesus in the Platina region has as a preamble one of the substantial celebrations in the shaping of the symbolic baroque festive art. The methodology used for the present notes is the descriptive analysis of the Annual Letters, which were the fundamental source for Jesuit historians of the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as those that followed. This limitation responds to the bias of other types of sources which are almost non-existent. All the inhabitants took part in the baroque festival, but we analyse in particular the articulation formed through the communication of the event and the de-mostrative reactions of each place where the news reached. Therefore, the deployment of all the paraphernalia that the occasion merited was intimately linked to the scarce economic resources that were available, although with a high level of religiosity.
