Abstract
The Jesuit college of San Esteban, founded in the mid-16th century thanks to the initiative of the Bishop of Cartagena, Esteban de Almeyda, in Murcia, was one of the first training centres of the order in Spain. In 1757, the thesis transcribed and translated below was presented in defence at this college. It is preserved in a silk manuscript belonging to the old collection of the library of the Faculty of Theology of Loyola University. The thesis is written in scholastic Latin, which is quite technical, very dry and without any pretensions of literary beauty. It is interesting that, in addition to his great familiarity with Peripatetic teachings, from which he sometimes allows himself to disagree on minor issues, the author shows knowledge of some “modern” authors, all of them from the French Catholic sphere of the previous century.
