Mary of Bethany suffering, vulnerability and faith in the Johannine groups and in today's world
Main Article Content
Abstract
The NT, the Fourth Gospel too, mentions many difficulties and sufferings; some are unavoidable, others are the result of injustice. The book testifies the loneliness and abandonment of the disciples after Easter; also the crisis caused by the death of the believers. This experience appears in 11:1-12:11, a section where the gospel presents a double plot: Lazarus’ death and resucitation, and Jesus’ death and resurrection. The narrative joins some traditional data and John’s literary skills, who created an emotional narrative with mourning elements to hold the hope of believers.
