“Do not be afraid, for I am with you” (Is 43:5) Keys from the Old Testament for accompaniment
Main Article Content
Abstract
Spiritual direction as a technical term has ceased to be limited to the religious sphere, because its use has been extended to other areas such as education or business. The need for individual, personal care requires that every pastoral agent carries out this task together with those who participate in pastoral activities. Going back to Scripture will allow us to recognize some of the peculiarities that necessarily characterize spiritual direction or pastoral care in a Christian setting. While studies abound that focus on the New Testament, less frequent are the ones that examine the way God accompanies his people throughout the Old Testament. This paper aims to fill this gap in acknowledging, in the first part of the Bible, essential clues that nourish and foster our pastoral mission.
