Interactive Theology. How interreligious dialogue can continue

Abstract

When thinking about how interreligious dialogue can move forward in Europe, particular attention should be paid to the emergence of new theological centres. Muslims develop now their own religious reflection there. What about Christian theologians? These are still in search of answers: what the new possibility of dialogue can mean, and how it can go forward theologically. In this article we will study Muslim theology in its origins, to become fully aware of its entity. We will then study the method of comparative theology as a way to develop interreligious dialogue with Islam in the future. The limits and issues left open by this method lead us to believe that it would be necessary rather to develop it in the direction of an interactive theology. We will try in this essay to show the main lines that should have such a type of theology.
