Abstract

Religious indifference has become one of the fundamental concerns of the Church, as it questions its evangelizing and missionary capacity. The growing number of people who have settled themselves in unbelief and religious indifference in Spain should make us think. In recent years, this reality has reached the proportion of a mass phenomenon, which involves both believers and non-believers. The present study seeks to look into this complex cultural phenomenon. Firstly, some concepts are clarified referring to different types of unbelief. Then notice is taken of the data offered by sociology and surveys, in order to explain the nature of religious indifference, as well as the elements that generate it. Finally, some vital itineraries are described which can lead to indifference. The study concludes with a decalogue by way of suggestion.
