Abstract

Defamation and slander pose a serious attack against the dignity and good reputation of the people. As behaviors that seriously defile relationships within and outside the Church, they must be combated vigorously, especially in a world where good image is as valued as vulnerable. The article shows how the biblical revelation constantly warns against the devastating consequences of defamation and slander and Pope Francis speaks on them as instruments of death. For this reason, the discipline of the Church considers them serious crimes with devastating consequences and provide the pastors of the Church with the appropriate measures to canonically protect the honor and good reputation of every person in the Church.
