The Psychology of attention in the Commentary to Francisco Suárez's De Anima
Main Article Content
Abstract
Suarez did not systematically write anything about attention. However, it seems to play a fundamental role in his theory of knowledge. The attentio is linked to very relevant notions of his epistemology: as the agent sense or the harmony of faculties. In this paper we deal only with the scattered references found in his commentary on De anima. In the absence of a more complete study, its sources can be identified: St. Agustin, Scotus and Peter Olivi. In any case, attention in Suarez presents a balance between the subject active role and the passivity of the object.
