Abstract

Luke is the Evangelist that better sketches Jesus’ face as mercy of the Father. All through his Gospel, he introduces Jesus as fulfillment of the Father’s promised salvation. This is received by pure mercy, and not by our own merits. The practice of mercy is for our author a reflection of the one of God Himself. Through the parables, the Evangelist shows God´s mercy for the poor and the sinners, in a code of joy and celebration. A compassion born from the inner heart towards the one that lies on the way’s side, and that jumps out in order to look for and to find, what was lost. Approaching to some of these parables, it will help us to penetrate into that God who is moved before the human suffering, who forgives  without restrictions, and who never gives up in his effort to show the dynamics and the urgency of the practice of Mercy.
