Society of Jesus in Andalusia and the Canary Islands The Betica Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
On the celebration of the second centenary of the restoration of the Society of Jesus, we offer the history of one of the Jesuit Provinces of the old and the new Society: the Bética Province, or Andalusian Province, which was founded by Saint Ignatius himself in 1554. In 2014, this Bética Province has been integrated into the rising new Province of Spain, which is nourished by the life of the previous Spanish provinces. In these pages it is being offered the birth, development and historic unfolding, with numberless references to concrete Jesuits and the activities which have been carried out by them.
