The Social dimension of the encyclical Lumen Fidei
Main Article Content
Abstract
The first encyclical letter of Pope Francis, Lumen Fidei, is a text written mostly by Benedict XVI that Francis has made his own. Even if the encyclical deals with questions of theological anthropology – the theological virtue of faith—the document has interesting social implications. In order to understand these implications we should widen our understanding of the term social. Not only faith supposes a contribution to the common good from a point of view of the socio-economic and political structure. Faith supposes also a transformation in modern culture. But, overall, faith illuminates every human relationship because it implies relationships and it is itself relationship with God. Ultimately human relationships are the foundation of our life in society.
