Abstract

The author, at the beginning, presents a summary of the situation of the commentaries on the paulinism of Saint John of Ávila, so as to distinguish the more lengthy contribution of his own study. Based on the history of the new doctor of the Church, and on the saint’s experience of Christ in the prison of Seville, he outlines his resemblance to Saint Paul, in order to delve deeper  in the  synthesis of the spiritual theology  confronted by Ávila in his “Audi Filia”, and on his sermons and letters, based on his knowledge of Saint Paul’s doctrine. On the whole, this article expounds how Saint John of Ávila has succeeded in giving a personal  interpretation to Saint Paul’s theology in his system of spiritual life.
