Crosses and cruises. Pagan background and Christianization

Abstract
The present article aims at bringing about an analysis of the different ancestral cults that, in one way or another, have influenced the actual Christian cult to the stone crosses situated in routes, fields and mountains. In this way, it is intended to analyse ancient pagan cults linked up to the forces of nature which have been assimilated and transformed by Christianity all along history, cults that remain reflected in the whole of our stone crosses.
