Prayerful expression of the body

Abstract

In our daily routine, prayer often becomes an act of mental repetition quite removed from our life experience. In a person's search for dialogue with the mystery of God, the body can become the space within which God speaks to us, and with which we speak to the world. Our physical form is the very expression of our relation to the world and to God. The body is the platform from which we project our most intimate communication, our spirituality, if you will. Our experiences, our difficulties, our battles... have their most vital expression in the personal and collective experiences of the body. The desire to access a body which provides meaning to our life experience, becomes the ability to take consciousness of our physical form. This corporal consciousness requires a laborious path which goes from observation-contemplation of all that surrounds us, to how this affects our body and our way of being and living in the world.
