Abstract
In 2007 we are celebrating the centenary of Fr Arrupe's birth. His significance for the Society and for the whole Church in the post-conciliar period is undeniable. Professor Matías García offers us a detailed study of what Fr Arrupe himself called a ‘great confidence’. It is the origin of the option for ‘faith and justice’, a theme that marked his generalate at various levels. This article is a contribution to a better understanding of what led Pedro Arrupe to choose this path in a decisive way.
