The Theology of Science An emerging concept
Main Article Content
Abstract
In recent months, the media have echoed the advance of fundamentalist theologies in Anglo-Saxon countries. These deny the possibility, not only of dialogue, but also of an encounter between scientific thought (both from the natural sciences and from the social and human sciences) and the rationalised construction of religious experience, such as theology. In the face of these fundamentalist theologies, new theologies are appearing that seek to provide more open responses. They aim to collaborate in a constructive refl ection aimed at ‘building bridges’ between emerging scientific cultures and Theology. These attempts at dialogue and interdisciplinary encounters that give rise to reformulations of theological theses according to the advances in scientific knowledge are referred to as ‘Theology of Science’. The Faculty of Theology in Granada also has among its objectives dialogue and encounter with the world of science.
