Abstract

For some authors the constitution Dei Verbum is the most significant document of the Second Vatican Council, because it meant putting the Word of God back in the midst of the Church. The author of this article questions the "success" of this attempt by Vatican II. To do so, she presents the context in which the constitution was conceived, first of all by reviewing the developments in the field of exegesis in the 20th century, and then by presenting the central ideas of the document in relation to the entire work of Vatican II. The last part of his article is devoted to answering the question that appears in the title: whether the dynamic that Dei Verbum began has really been "received" in the Church and has borne all the desirable fruits, because although progress in the evaluation of the Bible is undeniable, there is still a long way to go.
