Abstract
The Order of the Cross of San Raimundo de Peñafort is a Spanish civil decoration that rewards relevant merits contracted by those involved in the Administration of Justice, the cultivation and application of the study of law in all its branches or services rendered in legal activities dependent on the Ministry of Justice. It was established by Decree of 23 January 1944. Speech at the awarding of this decoration to Professor Antonio Beristáin, founder of the Basque Institute of Criminology and professor at different universities, Valladolid (1967-1968), Madrid (1968-1970) and Oviedo (1970-1973), until he arrived at the University of the Basque Country where he headed the criminal law department at the San Sebastián law school.
