Islamism? Fundamentalism in Islam

Abstract

The situation that the terrorist act of September 11 has generated not only awakened the need for a change in political and economic strategies. The New York disaster revealed the ignorance that the West has of the Muslim world. And ignorance is usually the fuse that activates the bomb of unilateral disapproval and consequent demonization. Sánchez Nogales, professor at the Faculty of Theology of Granada, provides detailed information on the then and now of Islam, which attempts to account for its internal plurality, as well as the possibilities of a theological development yet to be realized. On this occasion we publish only the first part of this study. The second will be available to the reader in the next issue of our magazine.
