The bond of friendship

Abstract

Friendship is an essential bond in human life: a human being without friends, without close affective relationships, for whatever reasons, is an incomplete, lame, severed being. Friendship has been a subject for philosophical reflection for many centuries: What is friendship at its core? What do we seek and expect from it? What deep human needs and tendencies does it respond to? How can we live it humanely and maturely? This article can be of great use to us in reviewing our friendship relationships and thinking about them.
