Abstract

Religious freedom must be understood first and foremost as a fundamental right recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. From there, the Declaration Dignitatis humanae shows us how the Catholic Church has understood it since Vatican II. Once assumed as a fundamental right, the problem of religious freedom has shifted towards the field of the relationship between Church and society and secularity, as is reflected in the recent document of the International Theological Commission on religious freedom. The articles in the journal Proyección on religious freedom show us how the journal has followed this evolution and how it lacks a greater reflection on the best features of a healthy secularity.
