Solidarity in the Old Testament
Main Article Content
Abstract
The term “solidarity” does not exist in the Bible; it should rather be replaced by “fraternity.” However, there are numerous passages that speak of the reality that can be understood today in terms of “solidarity/insolidarity.” Perhaps Genesis, says the author, is the richest book in this regard, but so are Deuteronomy and the prophets. This leads him to an analysis of these books, beginning with the first chapters of Genesis with the account of the creation of Eve. In them, the author discovers the theme of solidarity, sometimes treated in the foreground and sometimes implicitly. This article may be useful for developing the theme in the light of the Old Testament.
