Satan's second ‘debut’. First take.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Contemporary Satanism is a relatively new movement. It emerged in California around the 1960s. Some argue that its first public document was the film Rosemary's Baby (1968) by R. Polanski. The character in the film who announced the birth of Satan was A. S. La Vey, founder of the “Church of Satan”. More recently, the film The Exorcist (1973), directed by W. Friedkin, reworked W. P. Blatty's story and sparked a revival of demons and an increase in the number of requests for exorcisms: in Hollywood, the Devil always has the opportunity for a renewed “debut”, with more or less brilliant roles.
