The questions raised by religious beliefs among young people

Abstract
When the ultimate ideological or religious frames of reference—which once offered security and a sense of overarching meaning—have disappeared, young people, deprived of these points of reference in a secularized and pluralistic society, adopt their values through complex processes in which individualization takes precedence; each person constructs their own symbolic universe, selecting from the available options what suits them, what responds to their interests and existential concerns. The author offers a sociological analysis of this process.
