The “dangers” of spirituality
Main Article Content
Abstract
The concept of Christian spirituality has taken on many different forms throughout the history of the Church: opposition to the physical, “a science that teaches how to grow in virtue and divine love,” life according to the Spirit, and so on. The author analyzes the various conceptions—including contemporary ones—that he considers negative and develops an idea of Christian spirituality as a way of life derived from the Gospel, which seeks, on the one hand, personal fulfillment, but is not limited to a mere project of self-perfection—which carries the danger of subtle selfishness—but is also, on the other hand, a commitment to the establishment of the Kingdom.
