The poor of the Southern Hemisphere: a challenge to our faith

Abstract

In our present age, humanity is divided into two distinct spheres: In the South, the overwhelming majority of people live in absolute poverty. In the North, secularism and religious indifference are increasingly prevalent. This has given rise to two models of evangelization within the Church: missionary re-evangelization and liberating evangelization. There is a risk of interpreting them as two independent systems. It is necessary for missionary re-evangelization to also incorporate the message and the challenge of Liberating Evangelization into its content.
