Abstract
The article sets out the most significant evidence of women’s involvement in evangelisation and other church-related tasks. The situation of women in Israel was very difficult. Jesus’s treatment of women and the evangelistic work they carried out in the early days should have served merely as a starting point, not as an insurmountable barrier. Jesus’s approach points to a path that the Church should have followed.
