The Dynamism of Grace

Abstract

This essay explores the Old and New Testaments to examine the concept of “grace,” emphasizing its communal dimension in contrast to the exclusivity that has sometimes been attributed to the individual aspect of God’s action toward specific human beings. Grace is the loving inclination that overcomes and bridges the gap between the powerful (God) and the weak. Thus, the Christian life is a dynamic of reaching out to the weak and standing in solidarity with them. Therefore, living in grace is not only living in innocence and peace of mind, but also living in the struggle to bridge the gap between the strong and the weak, to reach out to the weak, and to stand in solidarity with them.
