Horizons of the New Code of Canon Law
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Code of Canon Law, in force since 1983, must be interpreted in accordance with the criteria set out by John Paul II in the Apostolic Constitution by which he promulgated it; its norms must also develop in line with those criteria: the Church as the People of God and the hierarchy as a ministry; collegiality; the rights and duties of the faithful; and ecumenism. The article sets out some examples of this interpretation.
