Abstract

The Freudian critique of religion is undoubtedly one of the most merciless impugnations that have been made throughout history. Perhaps never before has there been an attempt to link the act of faith and the practice of religion with such dark, primitive and archaic elements of the human being: violence, rivalry, sex or the animal survival instinct. This deconstruction of the experience of faith and its reduction to the most questionable components of the human being has had a considerable impact on our western society. Professor Carlos Domínguez suggests a theological reflection that confronts this fact and accepts the challenge of adapting, revising, reformulating and rethinking its own categories.
