Abstract
Father Alonso de Barzana, one of the components of the second expecición of Jesuit missionaries to Peru was a key figure to the evangelization of these people, by his apostolic zeal, virtue and mastery of native languages. He was born in Belinchón (Cuenca), he studied at the University of Baeza (Jaén) and was one of the disciples of San Juan de Avila. He entered the Society being experienced priest, and from the novitiate he asked the Superior General San Francisco de Borja to send him to missions, which won in 1569, setting sail in the expedition of Viceroy Francisco de Toledo
