For a theological implication in the debates around to the notion of 'human dignity'
Main Article Content
Abstract
The last years have witnessed a critical distance from the idea of ‘human dignity’, being questioned, especially because of its failing significance, its ambiguities and its anachronistic sense of superiority. Also, bioethics express substantial doubts regarding its utility and convenience. These debates are connected with recent developments in scientific anthropology that question traditional views inspired by the Christian and the humanist sense of human excellence. This article attempts to review the status of that debate from a theological and critical perspective, and proposes some theoretical complements that could help to correct the observed problems and to offer sound alternatives.
