Introduction to reading and meditating on the Psalms Athanasius of Alexandria, Epistle to Marcellinus (Pg. 27, [1857], 12-45)
Main Article Content
Abstract
It’s very frequent the use of the psalms in the early centuries of Christianity. Thus Athanasius wrote a Comment (PG 27, 59-590) and De titulis Psalmorum (PG 27, 649-1344). Before these works, Athanasius wrote Epistola ad Marcelinum on the interpretation of the psalms. This article stems out from a communication of Prof. Granado in the setting of the First Meeting of Theology of the “Facultad de Teología de Granada”, and it starts with an approaching to the rules of hermeneutic of the Athanasius’ exegesis, driving to identify the objective or purpose (sko, poj) of the Scriptures. It stops later in the study to the Letter to Marcelino with the spiritual use of the psalms directed to the personal edification, which reveals the monastic atmosphere of its destination. The paper of Prof. Granado starts with a detailed presentation of this work and finishes with the translation of the original text.
